What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and adapt instructional materials for special education students
  • 2Assist with group activities and reinforce learning goals across academic and functional domains
  • 3Monitor student behavior and implement classroom standards and policies
  • 4Provide feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance as needed to support student independence
  • 5Prepare classrooms, set up tables and chairs, and distribute handouts and materials
  • 6Assist with data collection and reporting on student progress and incidents
  • 7Communicate with parents about progress and concerns and interpret teacher feedback
  • 8Support planning and coordination of lesson plans by sharing ideas and student feedback
  • 9Supervise students on playground, cafeteria, and during transitions to ensure safety
  • 10Assist with documentation and incident reporting when unusual events occur

Requirements5

  • 1High School diploma or GED
  • 2CPR certification within 30 days of hire
  • 3Completion of 60 college credits hours or an Associate’s degree or passing a paraprofessional test
  • 4Must meet state and district requirements for Title I schools
  • 5Six months experience with children in a learning environment (preferred)
