Solar Operations Technician II, O&M for Solar Energy Systems
Overview
Owns advanced inspection, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics for solar energy systems at a Denver site. Leads field safety culture and performs technical tasks in 600Vac and 1500Vdc environments. Collaborates with a team of technicians to deliver reliable solar operations and maintenance and supports training materials and knowledge sharing.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead by example to promote a safe working culture in the field
- 2Safely perform electrical energy control procedures and select appropriate PPE
- 3Participate in Pre-Job Briefs and Job Safety Analysis and lead when approved
- 4Perform comprehensive electrical and mechanical inspections of solar energy systems
- 5Conduct advanced preventative maintenance tasks including infrared thermography and I/V curve tracing
- 6Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for assigned sites
- 7Independently diagnose and troubleshoot system and operational issues
- 8Operate and troubleshoot in high voltage environments without direct supervision
- 9Utilize diagnostic tools and root-cause analysis for equipment repairs
- 10Create and maintain detailed documentation and prepare technical reports for leadership
Requirements13
- 1High school diploma or equivalent
- 2Valid Colorado Journeyman Electrician license (DORA State Electrical Board)
- 3Minimum of 2 years of experience in the solar industry or related electrical field
- 4Demonstrated understanding of electrical systems, solar energy principles, and grid-tied systems
- 5Familiar with diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers
- 6Ability to read and work from electrical schematics and engineering drawings
- 7Knowledge of Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) is preferred
- 8FAA Part 107 Certification and familiarity operating drones for aerial thermography are preferred
- 9OSHA 30-hour and NFPA 70e certifications are preferred
- 10Strong analytical, time management, and problem-solving skills
- 11Proven ability to work independently and lead by example with junior technicians
- 12Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- 13Valid driver's license and clean driving record
