Software Engineer, Platform & Infrastructure
Overview
You will own the design and development of production-grade platform services, internal APIs, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) that enable engineering teams to provision and manage cloud infrastructure at scale. You will join a platform engineering team within a hospitality industry leader, working remotely or from our Bethesda, MD office. You will build with Go, Python, and Terraform, and drive automation across CI/CD and Policy as Code (OPA). This contract role stands out for its focus on platform engineering and the chance to influence infrastructure automation strategy.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build internal platform services and APIs using Go or Python, integrating Terraform modules for secure, scalable infrastructure provisioning.
- 2Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks to ensure security, compliance, and operational reliability.
- 3Design Policy as Code solutions with OPA to enforce security and compliance across cloud infrastructure.
- 4Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and engineering teams to deliver platform services that support cloud initiatives.
- 5Lead technical efforts by mentoring engineers, evaluating new technologies, and documenting infrastructure automation practices.
- 6Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement observability best practices for reliability.
- 7Automate cloud deployments using Terraform remote state management and versioned infrastructure code.
- 8Drive continuous improvement of the platform automation roadmap based on team feedback and emerging cloud technologies.
Requirements6
- 15+ years building and supporting production backend services and APIs for platform or developer tooling.
- 2Strong programming skills in Go or Python, including RESTful API development and software engineering best practices.
- 3Experience with distributed systems, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- 4Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure: networking, IAM, compute, storage, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- 5Proven ability to develop Terraform modules, manage remote state, and automate cloud infrastructure deployments.
- 6Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex production issues across applications and infrastructure.
