Software Engineer Agent, AI Retail Solutions
Overview
You will design and deliver production-grade AI agents for retail at Sierra, serving hundreds of millions of shopper interactions for brands like Gap, Wayfair, Sonos, and ADT. You will own the full Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC) from pilot to deployment. This role sits on the Retail Agent Engineering team, partnering with enterprises and startups to build the future of AI-first commerce. You will work directly with customers and shape the Sierra platform. This is a high-intensity, in-person role in San Francisco.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build and ship production-grade AI agents that drive revenue for large retail brands, handling high traffic during peak seasons.
- 2Drive the ADLC from pilot to deployment, owning the entire lifecycle of agent development and iteration.
- 3Partner with enterprise leaders to understand business challenges and deploy AI agents that transform operations.
- 4Collaborate with cutting-edge startups to embed AI agents across their business stack.
- 5Prototype new tools and features that guide the evolution of the Sierra platform.
- 6Modernize commerce systems by creating scalable packages for order management, fulfillment, returns, and warranty.
- 7Build personalized shopping flows from discovery to checkout, including recommendation engines with semantic search.
- 8Ensure agents operate at global scale, handling traffic spikes like Black Friday across multiple geographic locales.
Requirements9
- 15+ years building and scaling end-to-end production systems.
- 2Strong technical problem-solving in ambiguous environments.
- 3Experience working directly with customers to understand needs and solve problems.
- 4Excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
- 5Excitement for the retail space and brand loyalty.
- 6Experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production.
- 7Prior experience as a founder or founding engineer.
- 8Familiarity with eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
- 9Prior experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Go.
