Signal Processing Engineer
Overview
Design and implement advanced signal processing algorithms for real-time sonar systems at a high-priority Navy program. Own features from concept to deployment, ensuring robust high-throughput solutions. Lead development in an Agile environment focusing on performance and reliability.
What You'll Do11
- 1Develop, implement, and optimize advanced signal processing algorithms for real-time sonar systems handling 100–300 MB/s data streams
- 2Work across the full V-model lifecycle including requirements analysis, system design, coding, integration, testing, and delivery
- 3Perform bug fixes, performance tuning, and algorithmic enhancements to improve system accuracy, robustness, and throughput
- 4Conduct hands-on testing and troubleshooting in a large-scale integration lab with multiple full system replicas
- 5Collaborate within an Agile framework participating in sprints, sprint planning, reviews, and iterative development cycles
- 6Translate complex undersea acoustic and sonar algorithms into efficient, production-quality C/C++ and Python code
- 7Analyze and profile system performance identifying bottlenecks and implementing optimizations in algorithms and implementation
- 8Use Git/GitLab for version control, branching, code review, and continuous integration workflows
- 9Contribute to documentation of designs, algorithms, test procedures, and results for integration, verification, and maintainability
- 10Take full ownership of assigned features from initial concept through deployment and support in an operational environment
- 11Obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance with eligibility for interim clearance
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Computer Science or related field
- 25+ years of professional engineering experience
- 3Strong programming skills in C and C++ as primary implementation languages
- 4Proficiency in Python for scripting tooling and algorithm development
- 5Experience using MATLAB for algorithm development analysis and prototyping
- 6Hands-on experience with undersea acoustics and real-time sonar data processing
- 7Ability to understand signal processing and acoustic algorithms at a deep level and translate them into efficient production-quality code
- 8Experience working in Linux-based software development environments
- 9Familiarity with Git or GitLab for source control and collaborative development
- 10Experience working in Agile development environments and participating in iterative development practices
- 11Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
