Sign Language Interpreter, VRS Part-Time Dallas
Overview
You will provide ASL to spoken English interpreting for Video Relay Service (VRS) calls at our Dallas/Fort Worth center. You handle a high volume of calls across various industries, gaining exposure to diverse conversations. You join a supportive team of interpreters and technologists, with access to free resiliency resources and flexible scheduling. This part-time role requires a minimum of 10 hours monthly, with shifts available Monday through Saturday.
What You'll Do8
- 1Interpret ASL to spoken English and voice to sign for VRS calls, ensuring accurate communication.
- 2Complete all national, state, and local licensure and certification compliance for VRS.
- 3Follow Sorenson policies, FCC regulations, and the RID Code of Professional Conduct.
- 4Maintain the attendance policy and complete assigned paperwork within deadlines.
- 5Adapt to a flexible schedule to meet VRS demand, including at least one shift on Monday, Friday, or Saturday.
- 6Learn and implement new interpreting technologies and software updates.
- 7Support team members and collaborate in a monitored environment with mentoring and evaluations.
- 8Pursue continuing education to enhance interpreting skills and stay current with industry standards.
Requirements8
- 13+ years interpreting between ASL and spoken English (preferred).
- 2Interpreter certification as required by local regulations.
- 3Pass a skills assessment for ASL proficiency.
- 4High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5Basic technical troubleshooting for computer and interpreting equipment.
- 6Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate keyboards and other components.
- 7Ability to work in a dynamic, regulated call center environment.
- 8Regular and predictable attendance.
