Shop Supervisor - J&A Glass & Mirror
Overview
Lead the daily flow of the glass fabrication shop at J&A Glass & Mirror in Minneapolis. This hands-on supervisory role focuses on ownership of operations rather than administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will coordinate material handling, prioritize fabrication work, and ensure safe efficient execution of projects while mentoring staff.
What You'll Do11
- 1Set daily priorities for shop fabrication material staging shipping receiving and deliveries
- 2Coordinate with project managers to ensure materials are ready when field crews need them
- 3Lead train and hold shop employees accountable for safety quality productivity and organization
- 4Maintain accurate inventory and material staging systems identify shortages damaged material and scheduling risks early
- 5Coordinate shop equipment forklift trailer and fleet vehicle maintenance
- 6Assist with fabrication of storefront curtain wall doors glass mirror and brake metal as needed
- 7Keep shop clean safe and professional
- 8Improve shop processes to reduce wasted time lost materials and preventable remobilization
- 9Communicate clearly when priorities conflict or additional decisions are needed
- 10Identify equipment and fleet needs before they interrupt work
- 11Provide dependable updates to project managers
Requirements11
- 15+ years leadership experience in construction manufacturing fabrication warehouse operations logistics or related environment
- 2Proven ability to organize daily work and manage competing priorities
- 3Comfortable giving direct feedback and holding employees accountable
- 4Strong communication and follow-through skills
- 5Ability to operate computers mobile devices and basic production tracking systems
- 6Experience using power tools fabrication equipment forklifts or warehouse equipment
- 7Ability to read shop drawings fabrication sheets measurements and material lists
- 8Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- 9Capacity to lift up to 70 pounds
- 10Commercial glass storefront curtain wall door or metal fabrication experience preferred
- 11Experience with AWS Certified technicians or similar credentials
