Shift Leader, Restaurant & Guest Experience
Overview
As a Shift Leader at Einstein Bros. Bagels, you own the entire shift from open to close, ensuring every guest gets a warm, fast, and quality experience. You lead a team of 3-5, set the daily tempo, and coach performance in real time. You'll work directly with the General Manager to maintain food safety, store cleanliness, and team morale. With stores closing by 2pm, you work no evenings, no nights, and still get your weekends. This role is the fastest path to Assistant Manager and General Manager, with many of our GMs promoted from within.
What You'll Do10
- 1Open and close the bakery independently, managing cash, equipment, and team coverage from 3am to 2pm shifts.
- 2Coach team members on food safety, serving standards, and guest interaction during every shift.
- 3Lead the team through breakfast and lunch rushes, maintaining quality and speed on the line.
- 4Monitor inventory and par levels for bagels, spreads, and beverages, placing orders as needed.
- 5Resolve guest issues on the spot, turning complaints into loyalty.
- 6Set the tone for the shift with a positive attitude and consistent brand standards.
- 7Train new team members on register operations and food handling procedures.
- 8Drive sales by upselling bagel sandwiches and coffee drinks.
- 9Ensure the store meets health code and cleanliness standards at all times.
- 10Document shift notes and handoff to the next leader clearly.
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or equivalent.
- 218+ years old with valid work authorization.
- 3Flexible schedule including early mornings (as early as 3am) and weekends.
- 4Pass a background check as required by local, state, and federal law.
- 5ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain before completing leadership training.
- 6Current valid driver's license (preferred, required at some locations) and meet driving qualifications per company policy.
- 7Able to stand, bend, lift, and move during the full shift.
- 8Experience leading a team in fast-paced food service preferred but not required.
