Sheet Metal Technician, Data Center HVAC Duct Installation
Overview
You will own the installation of high-pressure and low-pressure duct systems for a large-scale data center project in Lewis Center, OH. You will hang TDF/TDC ductwork, install spiral ducts, and coordinate with other trades to keep the schedule moving. This contract role offers 5+ years of stable work on a modern facility with a team that values craftsmanship and safety.
What You'll Do10
- 1Install hangers for sheet metal systems, including hanging sheet metal strap from pre-installed inserts and setting trapeze strut hangers.
- 2Install TDF/TDC flange rectangular duct systems for high-pressure applications, ensuring proper alignment and airtight connections.
- 3Cut in taps on high-pressure ductwork to match system design and layout.
- 4Install low-pressure duct systems by cutting and fitting spiral ductwork and associated fittings.
- 5Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to lay out and install duct systems accurately.
- 6Use hand and power tools including impact drills, wrenches, pliers, channel locks, vice grips, sockets, and screwdrivers for installations.
- 7Operate scissor lifts safely per site and certification requirements to access elevated work areas.
- 8Follow all site safety protocols, including wearing Type 2 hard hats, cut level 5 gloves, high-visibility gear, and fall protection harnesses.
- 9Inspect completed installations for quality, alignment, and compliance with project specs and industry standards.
- 10Maintain a clean, organized work area and store tools properly at the end of each shift.
Requirements10
- 15+ years installing duct systems, including high-pressure and low-pressure ductwork.
- 2Proven proficiency in sheet metal installation, including hanger installation and duct assembly.
- 3Experience with HVAC duct work and HVAC installation in commercial or industrial settings.
- 4Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- 5Current OSHA 10 certification or the ability to obtain it before starting.
- 6Scissor lift certification or the ability to obtain it before starting.
- 7Own and safely use personal hand tools including impact drill, wrenches, pliers, channel locks, vice grips, 9/16" sockets, and screwdrivers.
- 8Ability to work safely at heights with appropriate fall protection equipment.
- 9Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and compliance requirements.
- 10Reliable use of Type 2 hard hat with chin strap and cut level 5 gloves.
