Settlement Release Paralegal, Personal Injury & Asbestos - Manhattan Office
Overview
Lead Settlement Release Paralegal at a trial law firm focused on injured people with a nationwide practice and multiple offices. Own the settlement release process, reviewing and drafting release documents and coordinating with clients and defense counsel. Work closely with a team to ensure accuracy and efficient processing on complex settlements. This role is based full-time in our Manhattan office and offers collaboration with attorneys across cases.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build and review settlement release documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
- 2Oversee work product of the settlement release paralegal team to maintain quality and timeliness.
- 3Coordinate with attorneys to gather information needed for release agreements and signatures.
- 4Communicate with clients to explain terms and arrange document signing or notary appointments.
- 5Receive and review executed documents and submit them to opposing counsel for processing.
- 6Track funding status and follow up with opposing counsel on delays to prevent bottlenecks.
- 7Perform additional administrative and paralegal tasks as required.
Requirements6
- 1Experience as a settlement release paralegal with a proven attention to detail.
- 2Nice to have: experience drafting release agreements or related contracts.
- 3Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- 4Experience with SmartAdvocate or similar case management software.
- 5Experience drafting and reviewing contracts.
- 6Understanding of asbestos or personal injury settlements is a plus.
