Senior Wastewater Process Engineer - Industrial Water Projects
Overview
You will lead process design and technical delivery for industrial water and wastewater projects across hyperscale data centers, RNG/biogas, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing. Own basis-of-design through commissioning on projects from greenfield UPW systems to multi-hundred-MW cooling and reuse infrastructure, with the full backing of ARCO/Murray's national design-build platform. This senior, client-facing role puts you in charge of process scope, deliverables, and technical decisions. Work onsite in Chicago or Denver with up to 20% domestic travel.
What You'll Do7
- 1Lead process design on industrial water and wastewater projects, covering membrane (UF/NF/RO), biological, chemical, and solids handling systems, from FEL through commissioning.
- 2Own basis-of-design, mass balances, hydraulic profiles, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and control narratives as primary author and approver.
- 3Serve as the senior technical interface for clients, consulting engineers, and design-build partners, defending process decisions and translating them into executable scope.
- 4Drive equipment selection, OEM evaluations, technical procurement, and submittal reviews to ensure cost and performance targets are met.
- 5Direct startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization in coordination with controls integrators and field teams.
- 6Mentor junior engineers and review their deliverables to raise technical standards across the process group.
- 7Support business development through proposal input, scoping calls, and regional presence at industry events.
Requirements10
- 17-10 years in industrial water or wastewater process engineering or design-build process delivery.
- 2Demonstrated ownership of PFDs, P&IDs, hydraulic profiles, mass balances, and basis-of-design packages on completed projects.
- 3Hands-on experience with membrane systems (UF, NF, RO), biological treatment, chemical feed, and solids handling.
- 4Strong client-facing communication skills, able to lead technical discussions with industrial owners and their representatives.
- 5Experience inside design-build or EPC delivery, comfortable with cost, schedule, and constructability pressure on process decisions.
- 6BS in Chemical, Environmental, or related engineering discipline.
- 7Preferred: PE license, direct project experience in hyperscale data center cooling, RNG/biogas, semiconductor UPW, or food and beverage process water.
- 8Working knowledge of industrial controls, PLC/SCADA architecture, instrumentation, and process automation handoffs.
- 9NPDES permitting and industrial discharge compliance experience.
- 10Prior experience mentoring or formally managing other engineers.
