Senior Supplier Development Engineer
Overview
Northwoodspace seeks a Senior Supplier Development Engineer to lead quality-focused hiring and develop supplier quality processes for satellite ground stations. This role shapes high-reliability manufacturing foundations and influences quality systems at a cutting-edge space connectivity company.
What You'll Do11
- 1Design and implement the company’s first supplier quality assurance system documentation and workflows
- 2Lead supplier identification evaluation and qualification for RF PCBA mechanical electromechanical components conducting audits and performance reviews
- 3Collaborate with product design and manufacturing teams on DFM NPI and pilot builds
- 4Support definition of supplier KPIs and establish reporting mechanisms
- 5Drive resolution of supplier quality issues through root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action
- 6Develop incoming inspection plans and testing protocols
- 7Act as technical liaison between internal engineering teams and external manufacturing partners
- 8Manage capacity expansion readiness and production ramp-up at suppliers
- 9Implement supplier technical requirements and quality flow downs
- 10Provide feedback on manufacturing methods focusing on cost reduction cycle time and yield increases
- 11Perform root cause failure analysis and corrective actions for quality gaps
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Electrical Industrial Engineering or related field
- 25+ years experience in Supplier Quality or Supplier Development roles
- 3Experience qualifying new suppliers and managing supplier performance
- 4Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
- 5Preferred AS9100 environment experience
- 6Prior aerospace satellite telecommunications or defense industry background
- 7Familiarity with RF components PCBA custom enclosures electromechanical assemblies
- 8ERP PLM and digital quality management system knowledge
- 9Experience supporting early-stage product development through production ramp
- 10Lean Six Sigma or other quality certifications
- 11Proficiency in SQL or data tools for supplier analytics
