Senior Robotics Engineer, Controls & Embedded Systems
Overview
A hands-on Senior Robotics Engineer will own design and implementation of physical control systems for high-speed interceptor platforms at a defense tech startup in Austin. You will work at the intersection of control theory embedded software and real-world robotics as part of a small, senior engineering team shipping field-ready capability. This role is onsite and requires a security mindset and strong collaboration with hardware and software teammates.
What You'll Do5
- 1Build high-bandwidth control loops and advanced control algorithms to ensure vehicle stability and precise maneuvers
- 2Design and implement embedded code in Rust C or C++ for actuators motor drivers CAN bus and sensors on RTOS
- 3Integrate fuse and process camera and IMU data on embedded platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson for real-time state estimation
- 4Translate computer-vision tracking outputs into reliable motor commands
- 5Develop Python based tools for calibration logging and CI/CD to accelerate iteration and deployment
Requirements5
- 16+ years of robotics controls or embedded systems experience
- 2Strong control theory fundamentals PID model-predictive or adaptive control and performance tuning
- 3Proficiency in Rust C or C++ for embedded low-latency hardware
- 4Experience with NVIDIA Jetson camera pipelines IMUs sensor fusion EKF UKF
- 5Hands-on knowledge of motor drivers CAN bus RTOS and ROS2/DDS middleware
