What You'll Do9
- 1Develop and execute testing protocols for PICs wafers and sub‑assemblies to verify optical power polarization spectra and environmental performance.
- 2Select COTS and custom photonic components alongside RF electronics and mixed‑signal solutions for wideband development.
- 3Design mechanical fixtures and accessories that expand benchtop test capabilities.
- 4Perform trade studies on RF and hybrid electronic‑photonic architectures to identify optimal system configurations.
- 5Support creation of hybrid electronic‑photonic capabilities through hands‑on testing and validation activities.
- 6Provide coaching mentorship and technical training to internal staff across expertise domains.
- 7Maintain and improve test equipment libraries using tools such as BER testers VNAs and oscilloscopes.
- 8Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate photonic subsystems into larger radar and sensor platforms.
- 9Document test results and analysis to ensure traceability and compliance with design specifications.
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years relevant experience.
- 2Lab experience in optical engineering tests fiber‑waveguide coupling and design verification.
- 3Proven background in Silicon Photonics optoelectronics MEMS R&D or related photonics product development.
- 4Familiarity with discrete and integrated silicon silicon nitride and compound‑semiconductor technologies.
- 5Hands‑on use of high‑speed test gear including BER testers OSAs switches attenuators.
- 6Experience with silicon and compound semiconductor fabrication processes.
- 7Proficiency in integrated photonics modeling tools such as Ansys HFSS Lumerical Cadence Synopsis.
- 8Knowledge of microelectronic and photonic IC packaging standards.
- 9Expertise in high‑performance mixed‑signal systems ADCs DACs FPGAs.
- 10Demonstrated customer and decision‑maker engagement abilities.
- 11Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Physics Optics Photonics or related field.
