Overview
Own the continued airworthiness and maintenance engineering strategy for Pivotal's eVTOL fleet, including the Helix and BlackFly aircraft. You will develop maintenance programs, author technical documentation like AMM and CMM, and lead root cause analysis of critical systems such as propulsion and avionics. Partner with design engineering and MRO teams to ensure maintainability and reliability at scale. This role anchors a growing fleet entering scalable production in 2026. Work on-site in San Francisco with a team pioneering electric flight.
What You'll Do9
- 1Develop and improve maintenance programs, scheduled inspections, and continued airworthiness processes for eVTOL aircraft.
- 2Author and maintain Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), job cards, and service bulletins.
- 3Partner with design engineering to make aircraft systems maintainable and serviceable, including propulsion and avionics.
- 4Lead root cause analysis of fleet reliability issues affecting aircraft availability and field operations.
- 5Drive corrective actions and retrofit activities across engineering, quality, and operations.
- 6Administer maintenance work packages in Epicor ERP, including job creation and material planning.
- 7Support field technicians with troubleshooting procedures and fault isolation for complex electrical and flight control systems.
- 8Collaborate with certification and regulatory teams to support entry-into-service and operational approvals.
- 9Mentor junior engineers and technicians in best practices and documentation standards.
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 25+ years in maintenance engineering, reliability, or aircraft sustainment within aerospace or defense.
- 3Experience developing maintenance programs, ICA, or technical publications.
- 4Strong troubleshooting skills for electromechanical, avionics, and propulsion systems.
- 5Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- 6Exceptional technical writing and documentation skills.
- 7Demonstrated project management in a collaborative environment.
- 8FAA A&P Certificate preferred.
- 9Experience with Epicor ERP or similar systems preferred.
- 10Knowledge of FAA Part 23, Part 91, Part 135, and Part 145 regulations preferred.
- 11Familiarity with MSG-3 and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies preferred.
