Senior iOS Application Engineer, Mobile App Development
Overview
You will own the design, development, and production support of the E-Citations mobile application, a critical tool for law enforcement. Collaborating with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Infrastructure, you'll deliver secure, reliable features at city scale. This hybrid role in NYC offers direct impact on public safety technology, with a 12-month contract and webcam or in-person interviews.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build new features for the E-Citations app using Swift and SwiftUI, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
- 2Debug and resolve production issues across iOS devices, partnering with QA to reduce crash rates and improve stability.
- 3Design and integrate RESTful APIs with Core Data for offline-first data synchronization, enabling reliable field use.
- 4Drive code quality through unit tests with XCTest and peer reviews, maintaining a clean and maintainable codebase.
- 5Implement and enforce security best practices, including data encryption and secure authentication, to protect sensitive citation data.
- 6Collaborate with cybersecurity and backend teams to integrate OAuth2 and manage token lifecycle securely.
- 7Lead the migration of legacy Objective-C modules to Swift, improving maintainability and developer velocity.
- 8Optimize app performance using Instruments to profile memory and CPU usage, targeting smooth 60fps interactions.
- 9Ship regular releases through TestFlight and the App Store, coordinating with release management and tracking rollout metrics.
Requirements8
- 15+ years building iOS applications with Swift and SwiftUI.
- 23+ years shipping and maintaining apps on the App Store.
- 3Strong experience with RESTful APIs, Core Data, and offline storage.
- 4Proficiency with Xcode, Instruments, and TestFlight for debugging and deployment.
- 5Solid understanding of OAuth2 and secure data handling.
- 6Experience with Objective-C for legacy code maintenance.
- 7Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for iOS using Fastlane and Jenkins.
- 8B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
