Overview
You will own the design, engineering, and evolution of enterprise-grade modern database platforms at Bank of America, spanning MongoDB, Redis, and graph databases like Neo4j and Stardog. This role sits at the intersection of database engineering, platform engineering, cloud/infrastructure architecture, and security compliance, ensuring platforms are resilient, API-driven, and integrated into enterprise systems. You will lead architecture, set standards, and drive automation-first practices, with a focus on hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. What You'll Do10
- 1Define and own the target architecture and engineering strategy for modern database platforms, including MongoDB, Redis, and graph databases.
- 2Establish reference architectures, design patterns, and standards for document, in-memory, and graph/knowledge graph platforms.
- 3Lead the creation of API-driven, self-service database platforms that abstract complexity from application teams.
- 4Implement service catalogs, golden deployment patterns, standardized provisioning workflows, and reusable automation frameworks.
- 5Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code and platform-as-a-product principles across the organization.
- 6Architect database services for enterprise-grade resilience, including multi-region/multi-site high availability, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.
- 7Lead performance engineering, including sharding, partitioning, caching patterns with Redis, and workload isolation.
- 8Define and enforce SLOs/SLAs and reliability benchmarks, introducing proactive capacity planning and performance optimization models.
- 9Partner with infrastructure and cloud teams to optimize deployment models and enable Kubernetes-based database management.
- 10Mentor and guide team members to ensure system design and technology solutions comply with enterprise standards.
Requirements10
- 17+ years as an Infrastructure Engineer or in a similar function.
- 2Experience leading the design and engineering of modern database platforms, including MongoDB, Redis, and graph databases like Neo4j or Stardog.
- 3Deep expertise in database architecture, including sharding, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- 4Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation frameworks.
- 5Strong knowledge of hybrid and multi-cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data sovereignty considerations.
- 6Experience with Kubernetes and operator-based database management.
- 7Familiarity with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk.
- 8Experience in financial services or regulated enterprise environments is preferred.
- 9Excellent stakeholder management and influence skills, with a product mindset.
- 10Knowledge of AI/ML and GraphRAG architectures is a plus.
