Senior Field Manager, NYC Construction
Overview
You will own day-to-day field operations across multiple active construction sites in New York City, reporting directly to the owner. You will manage subcontractor performance, keep projects on schedule, and serve as the on-site liaison between clients, building owners, and inspectors. With 5+ years in field management and an NYC SST Safety Card, you will be the operational backbone of a growing general contractor. This role offers direct authority to make decisions and long-term growth potential as the company scales.
What You'll Do9
- 1Oversee multiple active job sites across New York City, ensuring each stays on schedule and on budget.
- 2Manage subcontractor relationships: schedule work, hold them accountable, and drive performance across all trades.
- 3Conduct regular site visits, document progress with photos and written updates for ownership and clients.
- 4Identify and resolve field problems before they escalate, working with the project team to keep work flowing.
- 5Coordinate material orders and deliveries across all active projects to avoid downtime.
- 6Serve as the primary on-site representative for clients, building owners, and inspectors, maintaining clear communication.
- 7Provide day-to-day direction to site supervisors and field staff, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- 8Read and interpret construction documents, schedules, and blueprints to guide daily operations.
- 9Drive subcontractor accountability to meet project milestones and quality standards.
Requirements8
- 15+ years of field management or construction project management experience in New York City.
- 2Proven track record managing subcontractors across multiple trades, including carpentry, demo, and MEP.
- 3Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and trades.
- 4Ability to read basic construction documents and schedules.
- 5Organized and self-directed, requiring minimal supervision.
- 6NYC SST Safety Card (40-hour) required; OSHA 30 preferred.
- 7Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- 8Valid driver's license is a plus.
