What You'll Do11

  • 1Lead plan check operations and conduct comprehensive reviews of building and architectural plans
  • 2Perform preliminary and final construction field inspections to verify environmental health standards

  • 4Conduct general environmental health duties including consumer protection and food safety education
  • 5Investigate public health complaints and represent County in community interactions
  • 6Assist management with code interpretation and policy development
  • 7Coordinate cross-agency clearances with building officials and sanitary districts
  • 8Analyze regulatory situations and enforce compliance through investigations and documentation
  • 9Conduct field inspections to detect unsanitary conditions and secure corrective actions
  • 10Prioritize and track plan submissions while maintaining detailed regulatory records
  • 11Train staff and public on inspection methods and code interpretations

Requirements11

  • 12 years environmental health experience as Registered Environmental Health Specialist
  • 21 year Environmental Health and Safety experience in California
  • 3Graduate degree in Public Health or related field preferred
  • 4Valid California Environmental Health Specialist certificate
  • 5Strong knowledge of building plumbing mechanical codes and environmental health standards
  • 6Ability to interpret complex regulations and enforce compliance
  • 7Proficiency in permit tracking software and document preparation
  • 8Advanced problem-solving skills for regulatory disputes and field investigations
  • 9Experience mentoring staff and guiding builders toward compliance
  • 10Two-year background in Environmental Health and Safety roles
  • 11Demonstrated expertise in residential and commercial food facility inspections
