Overview

Lead Versant's global Record to Report (R2R) function for a newly independent public media and entertainment company, shaping the future-state accounting operations model. Own enterprise-wide R2R service delivery, including close operations, journal entry governance, reconciliations, and reporting support. Partner with Controllership, Finance, Technology, and Treasury to drive standardization and transformation. What You'll Do8

  • 1Set the strategic direction for global R2R operations, defining the future-state operating model including centralized general accounting, shared services, and outsourced delivery.
  • 2Oversee end-to-end R2R execution: journal entries, account reconciliations, close coordination for revenue and cost accounts, intercompany, fixed assets, cash, and reporting support.
  • 3Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes in partnership with Corporate Accounting, Consolidations, Technical Accounting, and business-unit Controllership teams.
  • 4Own the R2R control environment, enforcing SOX compliance, audit readiness, and governance for journal entries and reconciliations.
  • 5Drive continuous improvement through KPIs, SLAs, dashboards, and governance forums, focusing on close timeliness, reconciliation quality, and automation with BlackLine, Promenta, and SAP ECC.
  • 6Lead executive-level governance of outsourced BPO providers like Accenture, ensuring SLAs, quality, and control requirements are met.
  • 7Build and develop a high-performing global R2R organization, coaching senior managers and process leads across business units.
  • 8Partner with Controllership, Finance, Treasury, Technology, and Audit to align R2R execution with evolving standards and transformation initiatives.

Requirements8

  • 115+ years of progressive experience in controllership, corporate accounting, shared services, accounting operations, or Record to Report functions.
  • 2Significant leadership experience managing large, complex R2R or accounting operations teams in a global, matrixed environment.
  • 3Demonstrated experience leading close operations including journal entries, account reconciliations, consolidation support, and reporting packages.
  • 4Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SOX controls, internal control frameworks, audit readiness, and close governance.
  • 5Experience managing third-party BPO, shared service, offshore, or outsourced accounting operations providers.
  • 6Proven ability to define and manage KPIs, SLAs, performance dashboards, and governance routines.
  • 7Strong systems knowledge across ERP, close, reconciliation, and workflow tools, including SAP ECC, BlackLine, and Promenta.
  • 8Executive-level communication and analytical skills to influence stakeholders and drive alignment.
