Director Record to Report, Media & Entertainment
Overview
Lead Versant's centralized Record to Report (R2R) accounting operations, overseeing journal entries, intercompany, fixed assets, benefits and payroll accounting, and cash reconciliations. You will report to the Senior Director, Global Record to Report, and manage two manager-level direct reports plus offshore BPO resources. You will partner with Controllership, Treasury, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, and segment teams to drive standardization, strengthen controls, and improve service levels across SAP ECC, BlackLine, and Promenta. This role offers the chance to shape Versant's future-state R2R model during a pivotal growth and transformation phase.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead centralized R2R operations for Versant, ensuring accurate, timely, and controlled execution of journal entries, intercompany, fixed assets, payroll, and cash reconciliations.
- 2Drive adoption of scalable processes and governance routines across central accounting and outsourced BPO teams, using BlackLine for reconciliations and Promenta for journal entry workflows.
- 3Own the period-end close calendar, journal entry workflows, and reconciliation quality, partnering with Corporate Accounting, Segment Accounting, and Consolidations to meet deadlines.
- 4Maintain a SOX-compliant control environment, ensuring audit-ready documentation and consistent execution of accounting policies across all R2R activities.
- 5Define and monitor KPIs and SLAs, using dashboards to track performance, identify issues, and drive continuous improvement in close timeliness and accuracy.
- 6Manage day-to-day governance of offshore BPO resources, ensuring service commitments, quality standards, and control requirements are met.
- 7Lead process improvement and automation initiatives, reducing manual effort in reconciliations and journal entries while strengthening controls.
- 8Support transformation projects, including ERP modernization and centralization, transitioning from legacy processes to scalable standalone capabilities.
- 9Coach and develop two manager-level direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- 10Serve as an escalation point for central accounting issues, partnering with Treasury, Payroll, Benefits, and Finance to resolve cross-functional matters.
Requirements10
- 110+ years of progressive experience in controllership, corporate accounting, or accounting operations, including global operations.
- 25+ years of leadership experience, including managing managers or accounting operations teams.
- 33+ years of audit experience with strong knowledge of SOX controls and internal control frameworks.
- 44+ years working with offshore R2R teams in an outsourced, BPO, or global shared services environment.
- 5Demonstrated experience overseeing month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany, fixed assets, and payroll accounting.
- 6Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX-compliant process execution.
- 7Experience managing close calendars, journal entry workflows, and operational metrics such as SLAs and dashboards.
- 8Deep working knowledge of SAP ECC, BlackLine, Promenta, or similar ERP, close, and workflow tools.
- 9Proven track record of leading process improvement, standardization, and automation initiatives.
- 10Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA or MBA preferred.
