Senior Data Architect, Azure & Snowflake (NYC)
Overview
You will own the enterprise data architecture for NYC's Department of Buildings, modernizing legacy systems across Azure, Oracle, and Snowflake. This role sits within a cross-functional IT team, partnering with application architects and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions for operational and analytical needs. You'll drive governance, model design, and ETL/ELT pipelines, making data accessible for critical city services. What You'll Do10
- 1Design and maintain enterprise data architecture spanning Azure, Oracle Analytics, Snowflake, and Oracle/SQL Server on-premise systems.
- 2Develop data models (conceptual, logical, physical) to support applications, analytics, and integrations.
- 3Lead ETL/ELT pipeline design using Microsoft SSIS, Snowflake, Informatica, and Azure Synapse.
- 4Establish data lineage, metadata standards, and governance practices for quality and compliance.
- 5Optimize storage and processing across Azure Dataverse, Azure Synapse, Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, and Snowflake.
- 6Design API-based integrations with MuleSoft for secure, scalable data exchange.
- 7Collaborate with solutions architects and business teams to translate requirements into technical specs.
- 8Evaluate new tools to enhance the data ecosystem and support evolving needs.
- 9Partner with security teams to ensure data protection across all environments.
- 10Provide technical leadership to data engineers and analysts; create complex queries, functions, views, and stored procedures.
Requirements10
- 15+ years experience in data architecture, designing and optimizing enterprise data ecosystems.
- 2Hands-on experience with Azure Dataverse, Azure Synapse Analytics, Snowflake Data Cloud, Oracle Analytics Cloud, Oracle DBMS, Microsoft SQL Server/SSIS, MuleSoft, Erwin, and Power BI.
- 3Proficiency in data modeling: dimensional, relational, and domain-driven design.
- 4Deep understanding of data lineage, metadata management, and enterprise data governance.
- 5Expertise in ETL/ELT development with Microsoft SSIS and Informatica.
- 6Experience designing and managing APIs using MuleSoft.
- 7Strong grasp of cloud and on-premise architectures, hybrid environments, and integration patterns.
- 8Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
- 9Excellent communication skills for technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- 10Experience supporting analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making across an organization.
