What You'll Do9

  • 1Perform non-invasive cardiac exams using phono-apexcardiograms, imaging duplex, and ultrasound equipment.
  • 2Run stress echo and dobutamine echo tests, plus vascular studies as needed.
  • 3Analyze Holter Monitor data to detect cardiac arrhythmias and abnormalities.
  • 4Administer cardiac stress tests under physician supervision, including patient prep and electrode placement.
  • 5Interpret EKG tracings and process diagnostic results.
  • 6Mentor technicians, fellows, and students in echocardiography and EKG skills.
  • 7Work independently in the amyloid clinic, performing research studies with high technical accuracy.
  • 8Handle scheduling, workflow, and software troubleshooting in the absence of the chief echo tech.
  • 9Teach technical staff and cardiology fellows on medical knowledge and hands-on technique.

Requirements4

  • 11+ year of echocardiography experience in a hospital setting (excluding internships).
  • 25+ years working in a stress lab and with amyloid patients.
  • 3Knowledge of cardiology, medical terminology, physics, biology, and anatomy from a two-year program.
  • 4Certification or eligibility for ARDMS registration in echocardiography strongly preferred.
