Senior Accountant, Oil & Gas Minerals
Overview
You will own the monthly close, journal entries, and reconciliations across multiple entities at Mariana Minerals, a software-first minerals company scaling for the AI and defense sectors. You'll collaborate with the Corporate Controller and FP&A to ensure GAAP compliance and accurate reporting. This role pairs hands-on accounting with process automation, offering a path to influence systems that scale. You'll drive improvements in NetSuite workflows and Excel modeling, directly impacting financial transparency.
What You'll Do9
- 1Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, preparing journal entries and accruals.
- 2Reconcile balance sheet accounts across multiple entities, ensuring GAAP compliance.
- 3Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for management review.
- 4Track and record expenses, operational transactions, and intercompany activity.
- 5Partner with FP&A to deliver accurate budget vs. actual reports.
- 6Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances in real time.
- 7Document accounting policies and procedures for audit readiness.
- 8Support external audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
- 9Identify and implement process automation opportunities in NetSuite.
Requirements7
- 13-6 years of accounting experience, including public accounting.
- 2Strong GAAP knowledge and month-end close experience.
- 3Hands-on ERP experience with NetSuite or similar.
- 4Advanced Excel skills for reconciliations and reporting.
- 5Detail-oriented with cross-functional communication skills.
- 6Background in energy, minerals, or capital-intensive industries is a plus.
- 7Willingness to work in Houston office and collaborate with operational teams.
