Seasonal Decor Styling Contractor
Overview
You will design and install seasonal décor and styling across seven assisted living and memory care communities in Southern California, creating warm, residential, and inviting spaces that feel like home. Working as an independent contractor, you will manage monthly décor cycles from installation to storage, using existing inventory while recommending tasteful enhancements. You will collaborate with executive directors and ownership to maintain high presentation standards in lobbies, living rooms, dining rooms, and model rooms. This role suits a detail-oriented decorator with strong design instincts who values reliability and safety, and who wants a long-term, project-based engagement.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design and install décor for monthly themes and holidays, including New Year's, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, summer, fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
- 2Style high-visibility areas: lobbies, living rooms, lounges, dining rooms, reception, common areas, and model rooms, ensuring they are clean, polished, and presentation-ready.
- 3Assess model rooms and key spaces to identify improvements in furniture placement, accessories, and overall presentation, sharing recommendations with executive directors.
- 4Manage décor inventory by packing, wrapping, organizing, and labeling storage bins by season, and identify damaged or missing items.
- 5Collaborate with ownership to develop a 12-month decorating calendar, including inventory review, layout assessment, and installation timelines.
- 6Create purchase lists for new décor within budget, sourcing from approved retailers like HomeGoods.
- 7Coordinate with executive directors to ensure décor placement supports resident safety, avoiding trip hazards and obstructions.
- 8Complete decorating cycles within the allocated days each month, with additional time during holiday peaks.
- 9Communicate professionally with leadership and staff, providing creative input while maintaining community standards.
Requirements9
- 13+ years experience in interior styling, visual merchandising, event décor, or related field
- 2Strong portfolio demonstrating tasteful, residential-style decorating
- 3Proven ability to work independently and reliably
- 4Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
- 5Experience with safe décor placement in senior living or healthcare environments
- 6Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between communities
- 7Ability to lift and carry décor items up to 50 pounds
- 8Comfortable working with older adults, including those with memory impairment
- 9Flexible schedule to accommodate monthly decorating cycles and holiday periods
