School Van Monitor, Special Needs Transport
Overview
You will own the safety and well-being of special needs students during daily bus routes in the Baltimore area. This contract role places you at the heart of student transportation, enforcing safety protocols and supporting diverse learners. You will work closely with drivers, school staff, and parents to ensure a positive experience. Your CPR and first aid skills will be essential, and each day offers a chance to make a meaningful difference.
What You'll Do7
- 1Supervise students during transportation to ensure their safety and well-being throughout the bus ride.
- 2Enforce school policies and transportation safety regulations consistently and fairly.
- 3Assist students with special needs or disabilities, supporting their physical and behavioral requirements during transit.
- 4Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding student behavior or concerns.
- 5Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive conduct and resolve conflicts calmly and effectively.
- 6Conduct routine safety checks of the bus before and after routes, including evacuation procedures and emergency equipment inspection.
- 7Respond promptly to any incidents or emergencies, including administering first aid or CPR when necessary, following established protocols.
Requirements6
- 1No criminal background and no drug use.
- 2Knowledge of special education needs, behavior management techniques, and conflict resolution is essential.
- 3Familiarity with school policies, safety regulations, evacuation procedures, and handling confidential information is crucial.
- 4Ability to support students with physical disabilities or special education needs compassionately and professionally.
- 5Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with students, parents, teachers, and emergency responders.
- 6Demonstrated ability to manage student discipline positively while maintaining a safe environment on the bus.
