Overview
The Bus Aide supports student transportation ensuring safety efficiency and timeliness across routes and excursions. This part-time non-exempt role offers summer opportunities. Candidates should have relevant experience and prefer First Aide certification.
What You'll Do11
- 1Assist students with safe loading and unloading from buses during normal transport and emergencies
- 2Collaborate with teachers administrators and parents to promote safe riding habits
- 3Restrain students following school procedures when necessary
- 4Encourage positive behavior and reinforce appropriate riding practices
- 5Adapt to student needs and maintain confidentiality of student records
- 6Provide escorts and assistance as needed while monitoring student safety
- 7Prepare incident reports and passenger conduct documentation
- 8Report observations and incidents to appropriate personnel
- 9Operate specialized equipment such as wheelchair lifts and child safety restraint systems
- 10Flexibly adjust to changing assignments and accommodate students with special needs
- 11Inspect and utilize various transportation safety tools
Requirements10
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent preferred with job related experience
- 2First Aide certification preferred
- 3Training in special needs preferred
- 4Valid pre-employment physical exam
- 5Criminal Justice Fingerprint background clearance
- 6Family Care Safety Registry clearance
- 7Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
- 8Experience with special education and behavioral management
- 9Strong communication skills for diverse groups
- 10Willingness to work flexible hours and handle daily stressors
