Bus Driver/Floating Teacher, Montessori School
Overview
You will own safe transport and classroom support for Sunshine Montessori School in Dallas, Texas. Drive routes for up to 20 children daily in a 12-passenger bus. Support Montessori classrooms as a floater teacher across 3-5 age groups. This role combines CPR/First Aid readiness with daily flexibility and direct child interaction.
What You'll Do9
- 1Drive children safely on morning and afternoon routes with a clean driving record
- 2Supervise children during boarding, rides, and drop-off to ensure full safety compliance
- 3Assist lead teachers in Montessori classrooms as a floater across 3-5 age groups
- 4Support daily activities including circle time, art projects, and outdoor play
- 5Maintain bus cleanliness and daily inspection logs for DOT compliance
- 6Communicate daily with parents and staff on route updates and student behavior
- 7Step into any classroom within 10 minutes to cover staff breaks or absences
- 8Enforce seatbelt usage and emergency protocols on every trip
- 9Collaborate with teaching teams to adapt activities for mixed-age groups
Requirements8
- 1Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- 21+ years experience in childcare or transportation roles
- 3CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
- 4Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- 5Comfort driving a 12-passenger bus in urban traffic
- 6Flexibility to work split shifts from 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM
- 7Strong interpersonal skills for daily parent interactions
- 8Physical ability to lift 40 pounds and assist children with mobility
