What You'll Do10

  • 1Provide basic healthcare to students in cases of injury or acute illness.
  • 2Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans for students with chronic illnesses.
  • 3Complete nursing appraisals for all students with chronic illnesses or medical disabilities.
  • 4Develop and promote health education programs for the school community.
  • 5Maintain all clinical records and coordinate state-mandated vision and hearing screenings.
  • 6Counsel students, parents, teachers, and administrators on health problems, offering referrals to community resources.
  • 7Develop emergency management plans and train staff on illness and injury response.
  • 8Monitor student immunization compliance and train Licensed Practical Nurses on medication administration.
  • 9Serve on multidisciplinary teams to craft IEPs and Section 504b Plans for students with chronic conditions.
  • 10Contribute to student wellness teams, focusing on mental health and case management.

Requirements10

  • 1Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution, Bachelor's preferred
  • 2Valid RN license in the state of Maryland, in good standing
  • 31+ year of clinical experience in a tertiary care setting, pediatric care preferred
  • 4Valid U.S. driver's license
  • 5Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • 6Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with EHR systems preferred
  • 7Strong interpersonal skills for working with students, families, and school staff
  • 8Ability to work with minimal on-site supervision and adapt to multiple settings
  • 9Knowledge of child development and common childhood health conditions
  • 10Skill in administering, analyzing, and interpreting various assessment measures
