What You'll Do10

- 4Teach students inquiry-based research strategies and digital literacy skills, including evaluating sources for credibility.
- 5Collaborate with teachers to embed information literacy and 21st-century skills into lesson plans and assignments.
- 6Cultivate a welcoming, flexible library environment that accommodates multiple learning styles and encourages active, collaborative learning.
- 7Drive school improvement by participating in the school improvement plan and advocating for effective media programs.
- 8Build relationships with students to discover reading interests and connect them with engaging materials.
- 9Collect and analyze library usage data to inform program decisions and share results with stakeholders.
- 10Model ethical use of resources and educate the school community on copyright and digital citizenship.
Requirements8
- 1Master's degree in Library Science or related field.
- 2Valid teaching license with K-12 School Library Media Coordinator certification.
- 32+ years experience in a school library setting or related educational role.
- 4Proficiency with MARC cataloging and Dewey Decimal classification.
- 5Experience with Follett Destiny or similar library management system.
- 6Strong collaboration and communication skills with teachers, students, and families.
- 7Knowledge of NC Standard Course of Study and state library standards.
- 8Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.
