Scale Operator, Scrap Yard & Cash for Cars
Overview
Own the inbound and outbound scale operations at a busy scrap yard in Pittsburgh, processing hundreds of vehicles and materials daily. You'll master the ERP system to document every load, dispatch tow trucks for the Cash 4 Cars program, and coordinate with yard teams to keep material flowing. This role blends customer service with data accuracy, working both indoors and outdoors. What You'll Do8
- 1Operate truck scales to weigh inbound and outbound vehicles, ensuring accurate documentation for each load.
- 2Use the ERP system to create outbound shipment documents, collect inspection ticket data, and look up pricing for phone inquiries.
- 3Direct drivers to the correct offload locations, identifying incoming and outgoing material through visual inspection.
- 4Purchase vehicles through established methods, schedule pickups in the shared spreadsheet, and log all dispatch details.
- 5Answer inbound calls and emails, forwarding issues to management when necessary.
- 6Count and order cash for transactions, maintaining accurate cash handling protocols.
- 7Ensure quality, safety, and environmental standards are met for every load, customer, and employee interaction.
- 8Support the timely shipment of products by coordinating with yard staff and dispatchers.
Requirements8
- 1High School Diploma or GED required.
- 22+ years of customer service experience, preferably in a fast-paced setting.
- 3Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- 4General knowledge of ERP systems is preferred.
- 5Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- 6Positive attitude and polite demeanor when interacting with customers and coworkers.
- 7Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- 8Must be able to commute to Pittsburgh, PA 15225.
