Robotics Test Engineer, Reliability & Manufacturing
Overview
Own the reliability and manufacturing test program for Aescape's robotic mechatronic systems through EVT, DVT, and PVT into mass production. You will run the HQ reliability lab, partner with contract manufacturers and suppliers, and drive tests from design to factory floor. Working within Operations, you will collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering teams. This role stands out for its end-to-end ownership and direct impact on product quality and launch success.
What You'll Do8
- 1Own the end-to-end reliability and manufacturing test program through NPI and into mass production, defining test SOPs, protocols, and specifications, and validating against the Engineering Requirements Document (ERD).
- 2Manage the test fixture build process with suppliers or third parties, coordinating and running or overseeing testing across HQ, the CM, and third-party facilities, ensuring data is uploaded and failures triaged immediately.
- 3Analyze test data and report results to Engineering and Operations, driving pass/fail decisions based on statistical rigor.
- 4Maintain and develop the HQ reliability lab, commissioning equipment and fixtures, and ensuring calibration and lab discipline.
- 5Plan and execute environmental and life testing in-house or via third-party labs, aligned to standards like MIL-STD-810, IEC 60068, IPC, and HALT/HASS.
- 6Define and deploy reliability and manufacturing tests and test scripts at contract manufacturers and key suppliers, project managing fixture development through implementation.
- 7Lead failure analysis on parts and assemblies, working with Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering to drive root cause and close corrective actions.
- 8Travel internationally (~10%) to CM and supplier sites to implement and oversee tests.
Requirements9
- 1BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Test, or related engineering discipline with 5+ years of reliability and test engineering in hardware (robotics, consumer electronics, or similar).
- 2Strong Python (or equivalent) for test automation, data parsing, and analysis; able to write production-quality test scripts and data-processing pipelines.
- 3Experience with reliability test equipment including life rigs, data acquisition systems, oscilloscopes, and electrical loads; able to build or oversee test fixture builds.
- 4Experience working directly with contract manufacturers and suppliers to implement and project manage tests, fixtures, and test software on the factory floor.
- 5Statistical rigor including distributions, control limits, capability studies (Cpk), Gauge R&R, DOE, hypothesis testing, sampling plans (AQL), and accelerated-life models (Weibull).
- 6Working knowledge of reliability test standards such as MIL-STD-810, IEC 60068, and HALT/HASS.
- 7Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD for fixture and test rig design review.
- 8LabVIEW proficiency preferred (CLAD or higher).
- 9Ability to work in NYC office 3 days a week and travel internationally (~10%).
