Overview

We seek a Staff Robotics Hardware Engineer to lead development of a hand exoskeleton system at Epia Neuro. This role reports to the Robotics Manager and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to transform bench prototypes into clinically viable products. The ideal candidate owns end-to-end hardware development from concept to validation while ensuring safety and reliability for patient impact.

What You'll Do11

  • 1Lead electromechanical system architecture integration and validation for robotic exoskeleton platforms
  • 2Own development of actuator modules and sensor-integrated subsystems from concept through prototype
  • 3Define and execute comprehensive validation strategies for actuator dynamics and sensor fidelity
  • 4Drive debugging and root-cause analysis across mechanical electrical firmware and controls domains
  • 5Mentor junior engineers and guide subsystem development through technical leadership
  • 6Establish engineering processes and documentation standards to enhance development efficiency
  • 7Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define technical requirements and validation criteria
  • 8Support vendor selection and design tradeoff analysis for sensors actuators and integration tooling
  • 9Contribute to long-term platform strategy including scalable architectures and transition pathways
  • 10Lead rapid prototyping and hardware bring-up activities across multidisciplinary components
  • 11Design and oversee development of wiring harnesses test fixtures and integration tooling for complex systems

Requirements11

  • 1Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Mechatronics Robotics
  • 27–10 years industry experience developing electromechanical or robotic systems
  • 3Proven leadership in multidisciplinary integration efforts involving mechanical electrical firmware and controls
  • 4Strong expertise in system validation hardware characterization and test development
  • 5Extensive hands-on debugging with oscilloscopes logic analyzers multimeters and power analyzers
  • 6Proficiency with Linux environments command-line workflows and Python automation
  • 7Experience developing embedded firmware for microcontrollers and real-time hardware systems
  • 8Familiarity with sensors including IMUs encoders load cells and force torque sensors
  • 9Expertise in motor control systems torque position velocity or impedance control loops
  • 10Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with ability to drive technical initiatives
  • 11Proficiency with CAD tools such as SOLIDWORKS
