Revenue Specialist I - Medical Billing & Insurance
Overview
You will own revenue cycle duties for dialysis services, processing insurance information, collecting patient balances, and resolving credit and refund issues at DAVITA clinics. Your work ensures timely and accurate reimbursement from insurance payers across multiple states. You will collaborate with revenue operations teams and clinic staff, including insurance counselors and social workers. What You'll Do10
- 1Process patient insurance information during intake, verifying coverage and eligibility for dialysis services.
- 2Collect payment on outstanding patient balances, negotiating payment plans and processing credit card transactions.
- 3Resolve credit balances and issue refunds to payers or patients when overpayments occur.
- 4Communicate with insurance payers to ensure proper coverage and timely reimbursement, responding to inquiries and appeals.
- 5Collaborate with revenue operations teams to streamline processes and resolve discrepancies across departments.
- 6Partner with clinic teammates, including insurance counselors and social workers, to maintain accurate insurance data.
- 7Maintain current patient account information, updating records in MS Excel and Outlook as needed.
- 8Identify process improvements and participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the revenue cycle.
- 9Adhere to HIPAA regulations and DaVita policies, safeguarding patient confidentiality in all interactions.
- 10Attend team meetings and training sessions to stay current on billing practices and system updates.
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2Basic computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- 30-2 years experience in medical billing, collections, or insurance verification preferred.
- 4Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve unique patient and payer issues.
- 5Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for payer and team interactions.
- 6Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and demonstrate resiliency.
- 7Ownership mindset with drive to manage a book of business and work through a queue.
- 8Knowledge of revenue cycle, insurance rules, and regulations for federal, state, and managed care payers is a plus.
- 9Familiarity with medical billing and reimbursement practices, including basic terminology.
- 10Willingness to train on DaVita's billing and reimbursement systems.
