Retail Key Holder, Ace Hardware Store
Overview
You'll own the opening and closing of an Ace Hardware store in Massapequa, NY, managing daily operations and leading staff on shift. You'll work directly with store management to train peers, enforce policies, and ensure every customer interaction follows the S.A.L.E.S. process. This role blends operational duty with hands-on service, including paint mixing, glass cutting, and key cutting. You'll be the go-to person for safety and loss prevention, protecting assets and reporting incidents in real time.
What You'll Do10
- 1Open and close the store, securing all assets and ensuring the alarm system works.
- 2Coach staff on inventory management best practices and plan-o-gram updates.
- 3Execute daily operational goals set by store management, prioritizing tasks for the shift.
- 4Handle cash registers, count money, and make bank deposits when the manager is on duty.
- 5Train peers on loss prevention procedures and enforce them to protect company assets.
- 6Lead daily huddle meetings to communicate promotions, safety concerns, and store updates.
- 7Review store displays and end caps, making changes to improve presentation.
- 8Process damaged goods and defective items quickly and accurately.
- 9Ensure all new shipments are stocked correctly and back stock is organized.
- 10Provide customer service using the S.A.L.E.S. process, recommending related items and staying customer-ready.
Requirements8
- 11+ year in a retail key holder or supervisory role.
- 2Ability to lift 60 lbs and stand for entire shifts.
- 3Proficiency with cash registers and basic math for counting money.
- 4Experience with inventory systems and plan-o-gram updates.
- 5Strong communication skills for training and leading staff.
- 6Knowledge of loss prevention and safety protocols.
- 7Flexibility to work day, evening, and weekend shifts.
- 8High school diploma or equivalent.
