Restructuring Associate, Chapter 11 & Insolvency
Overview
Represent debtors, creditors, committees, and other stakeholders in sophisticated Chapter 11 proceedings and out-of-court restructurings at a nationally recognized Am Law firm. Work alongside a highly regarded restructuring team in New York, handling domestic and cross-border insolvency matters. Take meaningful responsibility from day one, drafting key pleadings, financing documents, and restructuring agreements. This role offers hands-on case management and direct client interaction, with exposure to complex distressed transactions.
What You'll Do8
- 1Represent debtors, secured creditors, ad hoc and statutory committees, and asset purchasers in Chapter 11 and out-of-court restructurings.
- 2Assist with domestic and cross-border insolvency matters, including drafting and reviewing bankruptcy pleadings, motions, and financing documents.
- 3Analyze complex financial and legal issues affecting distressed companies and stakeholders.
- 4Conduct legal research and prepare strategic analyses and substantive briefs, memoranda, and court filings for Chapter 11 cases.
- 5Assist with depositions, witness preparation, and hearing preparation, and support trial preparation and litigation strategy where applicable.
- 6Participate in negotiations involving restructuring transactions and settlements.
- 7Work directly with clients, financial advisors, and investment bankers, collaborating across practice groups.
- 8Manage multiple matters and deadlines, assuming increasing responsibility for case management and client interaction.
Requirements6
- 1J.D. from an accredited law school and active New York Bar membership in good standing.
- 22–4 years of restructuring, insolvency, or bankruptcy experience.
- 3Experience representing debtors, creditors, committees, or other stakeholders in Chapter 11 proceedings and restructurings.
- 4Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with excellent communication abilities.
- 5Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- 6Preferred: Experience with cross-border restructuring matters, depositions, trial preparation, and complex financial restructurings.
Salary Insight
$235 - $310k per year
