What You'll Do8
- 1Observe and assess patients during pulmonary rehabilitation sessions, adjusting support to ensure safety and tolerance
- 2Monitor and document vital signs, identifying changes in patient condition and responding appropriately
- 3Assist patients throughout therapy activities, providing encouragement and physical support as needed
- 4Educate patients on pulmonary disease management and rehabilitation goals, tailoring guidance to individual needs
- 5Collaborate with the pulmonary rehab team, including another RT handling clinical documentation
- 6Uphold infection control and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with departmental policies
- 7Maintain a professional, supportive environment for patients, families, and staff
- 8Demonstrate clinical reasoning to adapt care plans in real-time during sessions
Requirements9
- 1Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program
- 2Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Maryland State Board of Physicians
- 3RRT credential through the NBRC required
- 4Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification required or preferred per department standards
- 52+ years of respiratory therapy experience, with pulmonary rehab or outpatient experience preferred
- 6Strong analytical and clinical reasoning skills
- 7Effective verbal and written communication skills with intermediate computer proficiency
- 8Demonstrated ability to show empathy and remain calm in stressful situations
- 9Interpersonal skills to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare staff
