Overview

What You'll Do11

  • 1Supervise staff and manage post-award activities for federal and non-federal sponsored research projects
  • 2Review sponsored expenditures for compliance with award terms and generate financial reports
  • 3Interpret complex award terms and set up financial deliverables in line with Harvard policies
  • 4Create internal guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance and identify process improvements
  • 5Analyze research portfolio performance and trends to inform strategic decisions
  • 6Support Portfolio Manager with school-level relationship management and issue resolution
  • 7Act as first point of contact for complex compliance questions from financial analysts
  • 8Educate departments on policies and best practices through training initiatives
  • 9Mentor staff in critical thinking and independent problem-solving
  • 10Collaborate with cross-unit teams to maintain business continuity and operational efficiency
  • 11Represent Research Finance on university-wide committees and IT projects

Requirements10

  • 1Minimum 5 years’ relevant work experience
  • 2Advanced knowledge of sponsored research regulations such as Uniform Guidance and FAR
  • 3Proficiency in Excel with strong arithmetic formula skills
  • 4Extensive knowledge of governmental regulations and restricted fund environments
  • 5Experience with financial modeling and cash management systems
  • 6Ability to interpret complex award terms and resolve compliance issues
  • 7Strong communication and diplomatic problem-solving abilities
  • 8Experience with sponsored research administration and finance
  • 9Familiarity with federal uniform guidance and sponsor-specific compliance requirements
  • 10Experience with financial analysis and reporting for research portfolios
