You will own pre-award and post-award management for a portfolio of federal, state, industry, and private grants at MSK, impacting cancer research. You will partner with investigators and central offices to shape budgets and long-term financial plans. This role is part of a new research administration initiative within the Department of Medicine, building a scalable model. You will serve as an escalation point for complex issues and mentor junior staff. Hybrid schedule in New York, with pay up to $164,500.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead the full lifecycle of grant submissions, from interpreting sponsor guidelines to coordinating application forms and administrative documents.
- 2Guide proposal strategy, timelines, and submission progress for a diverse funding portfolio.
- 3Monitor award compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures.
- 4Develop budgets and spending strategies with investigators, aligning financial plans with research goals.
- 5Oversee financial operations, including requisitions, expense reimbursements, payroll allocations, and financial reporting.
- 6Serve as the escalation point for complex research administration issues, partnering cross-functionally to resolve them.
- 7Mentor junior research administrators, reviewing their budgets, submissions, and financial reports.
- 8Use Tableau or Cognos to monitor financials and generate insights for portfolio management.
- 9Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty and administrators, ensuring professional service under tight deadlines.
Requirements8
- 13+ years of research administration experience in a healthcare or academic research setting, managing complex or high-volume portfolios.
- 2Knowledge of federal agency regulations, circulars, and federal acquisition regulations applicable to sponsored programs.
- 3Exposure to both pre-award and post-award research administration, with advanced financial oversight skills.
- 4Proven ability to create requisitions, process expense reimbursements, and manage payroll allocations.
- 5Mid-to-sophisticated skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel, and business intelligence tools like Tableau or Cognos.
- 6Excellent communication and self-awareness, with ability to interact effectively with faculty and administrators.
- 7Accurate in developing budgets and projecting expenditures, with a track record of leading recommended solutions.
- 8Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining high work standards and integrity.
