Overview
Own device-level validation of materials work as a Research Engineer, Semiconductor at Periodic Labs. Design and run short-loop experiments measuring electrical performance of novel thin-film stacks from deposition through patterned test vehicles. Contribute technical expertise to customer-facing engagements and collaborate across teams to solve materials problems.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design fabricate and characterize short-loop device test vehicles meeting clear electrical targets
- 2Build patterned devices end-to-end using photolithography laser direct-write or e-beam lithography integrated with deposition etch and metrology
- 3Deposit thin-film stacks with engineered complex interfaces using PVD PLD MBE and ALD/CVD techniques
- 4Perform electrical characterization on probe stations and design custom measurement test benches
- 5Connect materials and interface properties to device outcomes and feed insights into film-stack and process development
- 6Contribute technical expertise to customer-facing engagements translating needs into experimental plans and results
- 7Document methodologies results and learnings for internal knowledge and AI training infrastructure
Requirements10
- 1MS or PhD in Materials Science Electrical Engineering Physics or related field
- 2Semiconductor industry experience in device development or process integration
- 3Background at an IDM foundry or memory manufacturer preferred
- 4Strong command of device physics and integration flows with demonstrated device performance in short-loop test vehicles
- 5Hands-on fabrication experience spanning lithography photo laser direct-write or e-beam thin-film deposition etch and metrology
- 6Deep understanding of how materials selection and interface quality drive device performance
- 7Proficiency in probe-station device measurement and ability to architect custom electrical test setups
- 8Strong condensed matter physics foundation spintronics magnetic materials or quantum phenomena
- 9Working knowledge of emerging memory and logic device architectures
- 10Startup-ready mindset operating effectively in fast-paced ambiguous environment
