Receiving Associate at NYPL Library Shop
Overview
You will own receiving operations at the NYPL Library Shop, a 1100-square-foot destination selling 4000+ hand-selected items to tourists worldwide. You will check in deliveries against packing slips, price merchandise, and maintain stock areas to keep daily sales of 1500-2000 items running smoothly. Working part-time seasonal through January 8th, 2027, you'll use the Shop's POS and inventory system for daily tasks. This role offers hands-on retail logistics experience in a landmark cultural institution.
What You'll Do6
- 1Check in deliveries against packing slips and purchase orders, reporting discrepancies to the Associate Manager, Receiving.
- 2Price most merchandise and occasionally package items for display.
- 3Distribute merchandise to shop floor and storage areas to keep stock levels ready for daily sales.
- 4Maintain all stock areas so merchandise is easily found and identifiable.
- 5Learn the Shop's POS and inventory system to complete daily tasks with minimal supervision.
- 6Perform related duties as required to support shop operations.
Requirements9
- 1High School Diploma minimum.
- 21 year receiving experience.
- 3Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and remain stationary for long periods.
- 4Ability to move and transport heavy objects daily.
- 5Ability to perform detailed and repetitive work accurately and neatly.
- 6Demonstrated reliability and flexibility.
- 7Demonstrated computer and related technology skills.
- 8Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- 9Retail environment experience preferred.
