QC Technician, Quality Control & Materials Testing
Overview
Own quality control testing and lab operations in a high-production concrete manufacturing plant. You'll run destructive and mechanical tests, calibrate equipment, and keep product quality aligned with customer and industry specs. Work alongside production and quality teams in Baytown, TX, with rotating shifts and overtime as needed. This role drives continuous improvement and demands technical precision and safety compliance.
What You'll Do9
- 1Review specifications, test procedures, and customer requirements to define testing scope and acceptance criteria.
- 2Perform destructive and mechanical testing, including tensile tests, per applicable standards and procedures.
- 3Prepare test specimens and run evaluations to ensure materials meet customer and internal quality requirements.
- 4Record test results, complete reports, enter data into quality databases, and maintain lab records.
- 5Conduct dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision tools.
- 6Calibrate, verify, and maintain lab and inspection equipment per calibration schedules.
- 7Investigate nonconforming materials, report test failures, and recommend corrective actions.
- 8Keep lab equipment and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- 9Monitor equipment functionality, report issues, and support production and quality teams with test data and technical advice.
Requirements8
- 12+ years of laboratory testing, quality control, or quality assurance experience in manufacturing.
- 2Experience with tensile testing, mechanical testing, and calibration preferred.
- 3Associate or bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering Technology, Materials Science, or related field preferred.
- 4Strong MS Office skills and ability to use precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- 5Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment, calibration practices, and quality documentation.
- 6Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 7Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.
- 8Occasional travel may be required.
