Public Health Scientist I II, Laboratory Analytics & Chemical Safety
Overview
This role owns inorganic and organic laboratory analyses on clinical, water, and food samples at scale across multiple platforms. You will operate within the ADHS PHEP grant and Chemical Environmental Emergency programs, adhering to CLIA and QA/QC protocols. You will perform bench work, data entry in LIMS, instrument maintenance, and method development to validate results. The position emphasizes hands-on laboratory science, safety, and contributing to public health readiness.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build instrument analyses on ICP-QQQ, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS platforms to deliver accurate analytical data
- 2Design and execute data review and interpretation of test results for program reporting within the LIMS
- 3Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation (ICP-MS, LC-MS, GC-MS) to ensure continuous operation
- 4Prepare samples and conduct matrix processing enabling reliable instrument measurements
- 5Manage supplies, LWIS data entry, and lab safety compliance including waste disposal
- 6Develop and validate analytical methods in support of the PHEP grant and emergency response programs
- 7Travel as required to support program execution and field activities
- 8Collaborate with QA/QC and ethics teams to uphold quality and safety standards
- 9Document laboratory observations and produce technical reports for stakeholders
- 10Support a diverse, inclusive work environment and contribute to Lean CQI initiatives
Requirements5
- 1Bachelor's or Master’s in a laboratory science with 12 semester hours in chemistry, biochemistry, or biology
- 2Experience with chemical laboratory testing and instrument maintenance
- 3Knowledge of CLIA accreditation and Good Laboratory Practices
- 4Ability to perform method development and validation
- 5Pre-Employment requirements including a valid driver’s license and E-Verify compliance
