Psychiatric Technician, Inpatient Behavioral Health
Overview
Psychiatric Technicians at Landmark of Hyde Park provide direct care to residents with mental health conditions in a 24/7 inpatient setting. You will report to the Charge Nurse and support daily living activities while monitoring behavioral changes. This role requires sharp observation skills and clear communication with nursing staff to ensure resident safety and treatment continuity. CPR and First Aid certifications are required, with CPI training provided. Work rotating shifts including 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am.
What You'll Do8
- 1Assist residents with daily living activities including hygiene, meals, and mobility under nurse supervision.
- 2Record and report behavioral observations to the Charge Nurse every shift, documenting changes in mood or condition.
- 3Respond to resident calls promptly, providing de-escalation and crisis intervention as needed.
- 4Support therapeutic activities and redirect residents using CPI techniques to maintain a safe environment.
- 5Monitor vital signs and document intake/output for residents as directed by nursing staff.
- 6Escort residents to appointments and activities within the facility, ensuring safety and security.
- 7Participate in shift handoffs, communicating critical information to incoming staff.
- 8Maintain cleanliness and organization of resident rooms and common areas.
Requirements7
- 1High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field preferred.
- 2CPR and First Aid certifications required before hire.
- 31+ year experience in psychiatric or geriatric care setting preferred.
- 4Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
- 5Physical stamina to lift 50+ pounds and stand for extended periods.
- 6Strong communication skills for accurate reporting to licensed nursing staff.
- 7Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends.
