Project Manager, Millwork & High-End Residential Construction
Overview
Project Manager with deep millwork fabrication and installation knowledge leads complex, high-value projects from contract award through closeout. You’ll guide design intent, manage submittals, and report project health to support portfolio decisions. What You'll Do10
- 1Lead multiple high-end residential millwork projects from kickoff to completion and serve as the primary contact for clients, architects, interior designers, and homeowners
- 2Run project meetings, set clear next actions, and keep stakeholders aligned while maintaining a responsive, diplomatic presence with vendors
- 3Strategically guide design teams through design intent confirmation and submittals that protect fabrication realities, field conditions, and schedule
- 4Review and manage architectural drawings, shop drawings, finish schedules, and specifications and manage RFIs, submittals, approvals, and documentation control
- 5Build and maintain project schedules reflecting engineering, production, procurement, and field constraints and coordinate with engineering, production, purchasing, and installation teams
- 6Plan site readiness, access, sequencing, and logistics with GCs and trades and conduct site visits to verify conditions and resolve issues early
- 7Own project budgets, cost tracking, and cost-at-completion forecasting through closeout and lead change order strategy and execution
- 8Drive punch lists, final completion, and clean closeout deliverables and ensure accurate project closeout including documentation and handoff
- 9Present concise updates on schedule, budget, risk, and next actions during Portfolio Reviews
- 10Identify risks early and resolve issues tied to design intent, fabrication constraints, or field conditions with appropriate urgency and diplomacy
Requirements10
- 15+ years of experience in residential millwork or architectural woodworking project management
- 2Proven ability to manage high-end, custom residential projects end-to-end from award to closeout
- 3Strong understanding of millwork materials, finishes, fabrication methods, and installation practices
- 4Expert ability to read and interpret architectural, interior design, and shop drawings, finish schedules, and specifications
- 5Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools (Excel required; Innergy a plus)
- 6Excellent client-facing communication and leadership skills with a diplomatic approach to vendors and customers
- 7Ability to lead a design intent confirmation and submittal process that is collaborative and efficient
- 8Strong closeout discipline with accurate documentation and aligned financials
- 9Comfortable reporting project health during Portfolio Reviews to leadership
- 10Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple fast-track projects simultaneously
