Project Analyst, Pension Administration & BenefitConnect
Overview
You will own the analysis and implementation of system enhancements for BenefitConnect, the new pension administration software at CalSTRS, serving over one million California educators. You will gather requirements from the Benefits and Financial Services branches, translate them into actionable plans, and support the IT budget forecasting with fiscal data analysis. As a key member of the Program Administration Unit, you will report to the Program Administration Manager and collaborate with BenefitConnect leadership on a hybrid schedule in Sacramento. This limited-term role offers the chance to shape a recently deployed system and grow within a world-class financial services institution.
What You'll Do8
- 1Gather and assess user needs from the Benefits and Financial Services branches to identify system enhancements for BenefitConnect.
- 2Analyze fiscal data and IT expenditures to support planning, forecasting, and reporting for BenefitConnect budgets.
- 3Develop written communications tailored to various audiences, including executive summaries and detailed reports.
- 4Manage project timelines and deliverables to meet deadlines for system improvements and stakeholder requests.
- 5Utilize Excel with complex formulas to perform calculations and support data-driven decisions.
- 6Serve as a liaison between BenefitConnect leadership and operational teams to ensure alignment.
- 7Exercise discretion and initiative to resolve issues independently while adhering to control agency guidelines.
- 8Prepare and present findings to stakeholders, translating data insights into clear recommendations.
Requirements8
- 12+ years of experience in project analysis, fiscal data analysis, or a related role.
- 2Demonstrated experience meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
- 3Proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas and data manipulation.
- 4Experience analyzing fiscal data and clearly communicating insights.
- 5Strong written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
- 6High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- 7Comprehensive knowledge of pension and benefit administration practices (desired).
- 8Familiarity with the BenefitConnect application or similar pension systems (desired).
