Program Director, Energy & Environmental Law
Overview
You will lead the Energy, Environment, and Land Use (EELU) Program at Vanderbilt Law School, coordinating curriculum, student support, and alumni relations. Reporting to the Vice Dean and Faculty Co-Directors, you will drive strategic planning and expand the program's national profile. You will manage the Private Governance Lab and major events like the Distinguished Lecture on Climate Change Governance. This one-year role offers renewal and a chance to shape interdisciplinary environmental law education.
What You'll Do8
- 1Develop and implement a strategic plan for the EELU Program aligned with Law School goals.
- 2Coordinate programming, course advising, and career advising with faculty and staff.
- 3Lead planning of the Distinguished Lecture on Climate Change Governance and the State of the Environment Conference.
- 4Support students in securing externships and research opportunities, and build fellowship applications.
- 5Manage the Private Governance Lab, ensuring project execution and promotion.
- 6Track course offerings, assist in scheduling, and produce white papers on climate governance.
- 7Build partnerships with alumni, donors, and employers, and promote the program through media and social channels.
- 8Guide faculty and students on externships and summer research opportunities.
Requirements7
- 1Juris Doctorate (J.D.) required.
- 22+ years in energy, environmental, or land use law or equivalent legal field.
- 3Demonstrated integrity and ability to collaborate with institutional leaders.
- 4Executive-level interpersonal and communication skills.
- 5Maturity and creativity in expanding the Law School's presence.
- 6Sound administrative decision-making with high discernment.
- 7Ability to perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects.
