Overview
BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being across 60+ locations. They provide workforce development and services for children youth families seniors and homeless prevention. The Jerome Avenue Men’s Shelter serves 200 men with mental illness offering housing case management primary care and psychiatric services. Clients receive hygiene products linens meals and activities while residents stay until permanent housing within nine months. This role supports daily operations and community outreach.
What You'll Do11
- 1Assist clients with concrete needs such as hygiene products linens MetroCards laundry detergent dorm access
- 2Oversee weekly under bed cleanouts and linen exchanges
- 3Manage bed pack-ups and complete inventory
- 4Handle bed bug oven operations
- 5Monitor client laundry room and manage property storage disposal
- 6Maintain hygiene product and linen inventory
- 7Conduct new client intakes including needs assessments and data entry
- 8Pick up and deliver packages and perform errands
- 9Escort clients to appointments using agency vehicle or public transportation
- 10Provide clerical support including filing faxing typing photocopying and sorting mail
- 11Prepare mailings and answer telephones relaying messages and greeting visitors
Requirements5
- 1High school diploma or equivalent
- 2One to two years relevant experience preferred
- 3Proficiency in modern business communications including PC email voicemail fax and copier equipment
- 4Basic filing principles
- 5Driver’s License from the state of residence required for 8 am – 4 pm shift
