What You'll Do10

  • 1Build a staffing plan by identifying resource needs, writing justifications for hires, and partnering with HR to fill roles.
  • 2Train direct reports through assigned courses, escalating project challenges, and formal performance reviews tied to department goals.
  • 3Direct daily work operations for nonexempt staff, prioritizing tasks to hit shift targets and quality metrics.
  • 4Meet weekly with internal and external customers to relay progress, explain procedures, and resolve service issues.
  • 5Execute company policies around attendance, conduct, and safety while monitoring adherence to FDA and BSI standards.
  • 6Develop weekly work schedules based on order volume, staff skill mix, and budget limits, adjusting in real time.
  • 7Maintain personnel records in the HR database, updating shift changes, vacation, and leave approvals.
  • 8Step into individual contributor tasks when needed, especially during peak production or training gaps.
  • 9Lead problem-solving sessions for basic production issues, applying continuous improvement methods to reduce waste.
  • 10Manage material resource availability against the production plan, keeping inventory aligned with scheduled jobs.

Requirements8

  • 14+ years in production supervision or manufacturing leadership, including staff scheduling and performance management.
  • 2Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience; masters preferred.
  • 3Proven track record of developing nonexempt and entry-level employees through coaching and corrective action.
  • 4Hands-on experience with FDA or BSI quality systems and regulatory compliance in a production environment.
  • 5Strong budget awareness, having managed labor and material costs within a department or unit.
  • 6Excellent verbal and written communication for reporting to plant leadership and external auditors.
  • 7Ability to make daily decisions under established policies while knowing when to escalate beyond your scope.
  • 8Background in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma, with real results to show.
