Product Development Engineer at GRAYL Seattle
Overview
Join GRAYL as a Product Development Engineer to create water treatment devices for adventurers. You will design, prototype, and test innovative solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This hybrid role offers 2-3 days in Seattle, 4-6 weeks of travel annually, and opportunities to make an impact through a 1% revenue donation to environmental nonprofits.
What You'll Do11
- 1Design and build functional prototypes using CAD 3D prints and sketching to demonstrate concepts for tooling and production
- 2Source materials and collaborate with third-party factories to develop minimum viable prototypes
- 3Test prototypes rigorously using available tools and external labs to validate performance against customer needs
- 4Create clear visual explanations of ideas for stakeholders through presentations and documentation
- 5Work closely with product managers and engineers throughout the product development lifecycle
- 6Maintain detailed protocols and test results to ensure prototypes meet high quality standards
- 7Travel domestically and internationally to gather field insights and participate in product validation
- 8Share findings with cross-functional teams in an energetic and transparent manner
- 9Collaborate with industrial design partners to refine designs while preserving engineering requirements
- 10Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation
- 11Contribute to a culture that values outdoor adventure, teamwork, and continuous learning
Requirements11
- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 23-5 seasons of professional experience in product development
- 3CAD proficiency using OnShape and solid modeling fundamentals
- 4Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in prototyping and manufacturing processes
- 5Understanding of injection molding, over molding, and metal forming techniques
- 6Basic knowledge of electronics and tool making principles
- 7Experience with consumer goods manufacturing including plastics, metals, and fabrics
- 8Proven track record of bringing innovative products from concept to market
- 9Adaptability to thrive in ambiguous environments and evolve approaches as needed
- 10Passion for outdoor adventures and experience in wilderness settings
- 11Reliability and positive attitude to contribute beyond individual projects
